BACOLOD CITY — A 58-year-old woman died, while four police personnel and three others were injured after their vehicle fell into a ravine in Purok Tuburan, Barangay Pandanon in Don Salvador Benedicto town, Negros Occidental at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.
The police personnel and their companions, who were on board Toyota Avanza, were travelling from Bacolod City to Don Salvador Benedicto for an overnight outing when the accident occurred, said Staff Sgt. Bengie Bantilan, police investigator on case.
Upon approaching a curve in the national highway in Purok Tuburan, the vehicle fell 50 meters down a ravine.
Daisy delos Santos, 58, a nanny of one of the minors in the vehicle, died at once, Bantilan said.
Injured were Corporal Patrick Panganiban, 32; Corporal Jane Claire Batadhay, 29; Pat. Calveen Corral; Corporal Hazel Motin of the Bacolod police; Rose Megel, 24; and two minors.
They sustained injuries and were rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Bacolod City.
“They were in stable status condition on Sunday,” Bantilan said.
