MANILA, Philippines — During the observance of Eid al-Fitr on Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed hope for a continued commitment to uplifting and supporting one another in the spirit of unity.
In his message, Marcos marked the Festival of Breaking the Fast as a “testament” for “shared humanity, strengthening bonds of family and friendship, as well as unity.”

“Beyond the values that Ramadan emphasized, let us continue to be inspired to extend our hands in service, uplift those in need, and help find joy in those who seek it,” said Marcos.
“Only through living with compassion and inclusivity can we appreciate and understand what Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought to accomplish—a life where harmony and love prevail upon us all,” he added.
Marcos then longed for communities brought together by acts of kindness and virtues of dedication and faith, encouraging Filipinos not to forget their responsibility to one another.
Eid al-Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, marks the end of the month-long fasting of Ramadan.
Although the festival is officially celebrated on Monday, following the sighting of the crescent moon, which signifies the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, the Palace already previously declared April 1 as a regular holiday for Eid al-Fitr.
