4.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Camarines Norte

LUCBAN, Quezon — The province of Camarines Norte experienced a 4.4 magnitude earthquake on Thursday, April 3.

In a bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the earthquake struck at 8:28 a.m.,

The epicenter was located at 14.23 degrees north, 122.84 degrees east, 007 kilometers south, and 46 degrees east of the coastal town of Paracale.

A depth of 10 kilometers was registered, according to the first bulletin released by Phivolcs.

Meanwhile, intensity 3 was logged at Daet, Camarines Norte.

No damage and aftershocks were expected after the light earthquake.

Earthquakes with magnitude 2.5 to 5.4 are labeled as “light,” which is expected to cause only minor damage to buildings. —Karl Ian Morissey Ramos, Inquirer intern
