MANILA, Philippines 鈥 The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) management to suspend its policy for hand-carried luggage.

This followed backlash on social media after the MRT-3 management on Wednesday reshared on its official Facebook page an old advisory reminding passengers that luggage larger than two-by-two feet in size are banned from the train line.

鈥淒OTr Secretary Vince Dizon has been informed about an old policy with regard to limited hand-carried luggage in MRT-3,鈥 the department said in a statement on Thursday.

鈥淪ecretary Dizon questions this policy and has immediately ordered MRT-3 General Manager Michael Capati to suspend and review it, stressing that this should not make the lives of commuters even more difficult,鈥 the DOTr added.
