Apology to former Albay governor Noel Rosal

An erroneous report on the alleged recommendation by the National Bureau of Investigation to file charges against former Albay governor Noel Rosal over quarry receipts was published by Philippine Daily Inquirer and on Inquirer.net on April 3, 2025.
In a letter to Inquirer.net, Mr. Rosal said he is not a party to the case filed before the Albay Prosecutor’s Office and that he has verified this himself from the supposed source of the news story.
Inquirer.net regrets the publication of this story on Mr. Rosal, who is running for governor of Albay province in the May 12, 2025, elections. The erroneous news item was taken down from the website on the same day.
It has also started an internal probe on the matter to determine what must be done to improve its vetting process so the same mistake will not be repeated.
