MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rains in Palawan, and parts of Mindanao while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.
Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said that the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres is currently affecting the Southern Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rains.

“Inaasahan natin na by tomorrow, patuloy pa ring magpapaulan ang ITCZ sa may Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM [Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao], Soccsksargen [South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City] pati na rin sa Davao region,” Torres said in a 5 p.m. weather forecast.
(We expect that by tomorrow, the ITCZ will continue to bring rains in Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsksargen, and Davao region.)
She also noted that the ITCZ will also result in rains over Palawan on Monday.
“Para sa nalalabing bahagi ng Mindanao at Visayas, magpapatuloy ang fair weather conditions na may pulo-pulong pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog,” Torres added.
(Fair weather conditions with scattered rains, thunder, and lightning will continue in the rest of Mindanao and Visayas.)
Meanwhile, Torres said that easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, are currently bringing fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
