TWO more suspects in the murder of Fernando Canillo and his live-in-partner and 3-year-old son were identified by the police yesterday.
Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, city director of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), said Ryan 鈥淩icric鈥 Beronguis, 17, identified Martin Bongalolico as his gunman and Cocoy Gumanay from聽 a police file of 32 pictures.
Both are members of the Kuratong Baleleng group.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 the one who shot me,鈥 Beronguis said, pointing to Bongalolico鈥檚 photo.
Beronguis, who is recuperating in a Cebu City hospital, failed to identify Canillo鈥檚聽 gunman, Ricky 鈥淯ncle Kambal鈥 Cadavero since he was first shot by the suspects.
鈥淚t seems they made an example of Ricric so that Canillo would turn over whatever they were looking for,鈥 Obenza said.
鈥淩icric is our last hope of identifying the suspect (whom the kids did not pinpoint) because the kids only identified Kambal (Cadavero),鈥 Obenza said.
Beronguis confirmed that four men barged into their house on June 9 in baranggay Babag, Obenza said. One drew out a gun and shot him in the neck.
Obenza said they still don鈥檛 have the photo of聽 the culprit whom witnesses described as a 60-year-old longtime member of the group.
Obenza said they are 鈥95 percent confident鈥 about the identity of the two other perpetrators and Ricky Cadavero.
After Beronguis鈥 identification of the two suspects the police filed a supplemental affidavit including the names of Gumanay and Bongalolico from the cases filed against Cadavero.
The affidavit was signed by聽 the mother of Canillo鈥檚 live-in-partner and Beronguis.
Obenza said Beronguis pointed to a man聽 wearing a jacket and ball cup and told the police assigned in the hospital, 鈥淪iya nagpusil nako.鈥 But the man scampered away.
The two surviving children of Fernando, on the other hand, are still with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Obenza said the children still聽 fear leaving the safe house, making it difficult for the聽 DSWD to provide them with psychological intervention.
Psychological intervention is聽 requirement for their witness protection application under the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The apparatus used for聽 the psychological analysis intervention is in the聽 DSWD regional office.
Obenza said the two children don鈥檛 trust anyone aside from the detailed police.
鈥淜ung amoa pugson ang mga bata kay muhilak man,鈥 he added.
Last week the wife of Fernando, Alona, went to Obenza together with a lawyer to claim the properties left by the couple.
She聽 said聽 the Beronguis鈥 family agreed to transfer the properties to her name.
Alona wanted to sign the papers in the presence of Obenza.
But Obenza refused since the properties left were named after Florita Beronguis, whom he later admitted was the real name of Emma, Fernando鈥檚 slain live-in partner.
Obenza said聽 three suspects were no longer monitored in Cebu.
鈥淏asta hit job kay muhawa dayon na ang suspects sa lugar, maybe naa sila gibilin nga spotter pero possibly mubalik na sila dinhi,鈥 he said./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
