CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday expressed his frustration about the upcoming transfer of City Treasurer Ofelia Oliva.
He said he did not receive any communication about the transfer.
鈥淪upposedly, when someone is relieved, there should be concurrence of the mayor,鈥 Rama said.
Rama said he is satisfied with the performance of Oliva.
Rep. Tomas Osme帽a of Cebu City鈥檚 south district would not comment on Oliva鈥檚 fate.
鈥淎nything I say will be twisted so I won鈥檛 comment on that,鈥 Osme帽a told CDN.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Councilor Margot Osme帽a said she is willing to work with any city treasurer now that she is the new chairman of the city鈥檚 committee on budget and finance.
Tessie Camarillo will replace Oliva.
鈥淚 will need all the help I can get and I hope that when I ask, I will be answered,鈥 Margot said.
鈥淚 haven鈥檛 had the opportunity to work with (Oliva) directly鈥 but I do know that she knows her job well.鈥
Margot suggested that staff of the city treasurer give refreshments and magazines to relax taxpayers waiting for their turn to pay.
This is practiced in the United States, she said.
鈥淭hey are paid to work and not to dance,鈥 Margot said, referring to 鈥渄ancing tax collectors.鈥
It was Oliva鈥檚 idea to let her staff entertain taxpayers in the office by performing short dance numbers.
