MANILA, Philippines鈥擫eague of Cities of the Philippines president, Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of San Fernando City, Pampanga, said Tuesday he took the recent appointment of Secretary Mar Roxas as the new head of the Department of Interior and Local Government positively amid remarks saying that he shouldn鈥檛 accept the job due to his current position in a big political party.
In an interview with John Susi of 鈥淪usi ng mga Balita鈥� on Radio Inquirer 990AM, Rodriguez said that while there are allegations that Roxas鈥� appointment has something to do with the upcoming senatorial and presidential elections, 鈥淚鈥檓 looking at the positive side because as the president [of the Liberal Party], he is experienced in political problems. . . and political leaders.鈥�
Rodriguez said it would be a 鈥渟elf-inflicted damage鈥� on the part of the party if Roxas will use his position to 鈥渁ntagonize other political leaders.鈥�
鈥淗e knows that,鈥� Rodriguez said, but added that Roxas is unlikely to do such allegations based on how he knew the secretary.
