MANILA, Philippines — The partylist lawmaker who alleged that guns have been shipped to Manila prior to the signing of the P1-billion firearms agreement said Tuesday he only wanted to make sure that what happened with the anomalous helicopter contract won’t happen with the government’s procurement of police service firearms.

“Yon ang iniiwasan natin dito sa procurement na ito ng Philippine National Police nang sa gayon masiguro natin na above board ito at hindi mangyari yung katulad ng sa helicopter deal,” Agham Party-list Representative Angelo Palmones said in an interview with John Susi of “Susi sa Balita” on Radio Inquirer 990AM.

Moreover,  Palmones said he wanted to determine the loopholes in Republic Act 9184, or the government procurement law, so that amendments could be made and government transactions would push through.
