Mandaue, Talisay remain unbeaten in Unity Cup

/ 07:17 AM December 12, 2012

POWERHOUSE teams Mandaue and Talisay continued to run roughshod over the rest of the field as they remained undefeated in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup after logging wins Monday night at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.

It was a playdate that was marred by one default win after another but Mandaue and Talisay, the champion and the runner-up of the women’s division for the last two years, continued to be the cream of the crop in the tournament after scoring convincing wins that further hiked up their records.

Mandaue wasted little time in defeating Tabuelan, 25-8, 25-15, for its third win in a row. It now shares the top spot with Minglanilla and Catmon as they all share identical records of 3-0 (win-loss).

On the other hand, Talisay grabbed its fourth win in as many games after defeating Sta. Fe, 25-15, 25-17.

In other games, Toledo, Oslob and Liloan all notched wins without breaking a sweat with default wins as their opponents failed to show up. Toledo downed Moalboal, Oslob bested Alegria while Liloan trounced Ginatilan. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
