CA confirms AFP chief Bautista, 48 officers

MANILA, Philippines – The powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the appointment s of Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista and 48 other military officers.
It was Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV who endorsed on the floor Bautista’s nomination to the grade of General and as Chief of Staff of the AFP, which was immediately seconded by Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce-Enrile.
Another member of the CA moved to unanimously approve Bautista’s confirmation.

“Any objection? The chair hears none. The Commission therefore confirms the ad interim appointment of Emmanuel T. Bautista to the grade of General and as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” said Senate President Franklin Drilon, who presided over the session.
Aside from Bautista, the CA also confirmed the appointments of 48 other military officers.
