Two men who had introduced themselves as cable company employees stole on Saturday morning over P700,000 worth of cash, jewelry and electronic devices from a house in Quezon City.

This was after the owner’s helper let them inside  the house as she believed they were really cable repairmen.

SPO1 Charles Jallores of the Quezon City Police District Talipapa station said the robbery happened at 9 a.m. on Saturday in Villa Eurofrocina, Barangay (village) Bahay Toro.

Jallores said the house owner, Efren Madrigal, had left his helper, 18-year-old Riza May Suriaga, by herself because he had to take his ailing mother to the hospital for a medical checkup.

Several minutes after Madrigal and his mother left, two men on a motorcycle arrived and introduced themselves as cable repairmen.

As soon as Suriaga let them inside the house, the men herded her into a room and locked her inside.

The robbers then started ransacking the house and later fled with their loot on their motorcycle. The housemaid later managed to get out of the room that she had been locked in and reported the incident to the police.

Taken by the suspects were P339,000 and $2,750 in cash, P209,000 worth of jewelry, cell phones valued at P6,000 and a 32-inch flat screen television set worth P32,000.

Police investigators said they were conducting followup operations for the identification and arrest of the robbers as well as the possible recovery of the stolen items.
