Driver hurt as SUV rams stalled truck
A BANK employee is in critical condition after the SUV he was driving rammed a trailer truck at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City at dawn yesterday.
Joshua Talon Jr. was pinned between the white Ford Everest he was driving and the truck.
A witness said he saw the truck being pushed by some men after its engine stopped at about 3 a.m. . Eduardo Tanghinan said the crash happened quickly and he saw the front portion of the SUV already underneath the truck’s rear end.
Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) and personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) had to disassemble parts of the vehicle to be able to remove the victim.
Talon’s left arm was broken and dangling from his side when rescuers pulled him out and give him oxygen.

Article continues after this advertisementThe truck driver, Eldibrando Gempeso, said he was at the wheel while his companions pushed the truck when he heard a loud thud at the back and was thrown against the steering wheel.
Article continues after this advertisementPO2 Franklin Balaquia, investigator, said Gempeso could be liable for failing to use a hazard signal light or putting a warning device to alert vehicles behind him.
