USJ-R rules Cesafi chess
THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) dominated the recently concluded Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc (CESAFI) chess tournament last weekend at the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) campus.
USJ-R lorded the rest of the competition by topping three out of the four divisions in the tournament.
The Jaguars defended their men’s title by finishing with 9.0 points. The University of Visayas (UV) Green Lancers bagged the second spot.
The Jaguars also claimed the boys’ and girls’ titles.
The lady woodpushers of the University of Cebu (UC) prevented a sweep in the college division after winning the women’s title with 10 points.
The Jaguars finished second with 9.0 points followed by the Green Lancers with 2.5 points.
USJ-R’s boys secondary squad finished with 18.5 points, UC had 17 while the Don Bosco Technological Center rounded off the top three with 10 points.
USJ-R’s chess girls team dethroned UC for the girls’ secondary title while Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu settled for third place. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
