MANILA, Philippines—Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in the city on January 9,  the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

In an order dated January 3, Estrada said that “millions of people are expected to join the celebration” and  because of concerns about “public safety and order” classes will be suspended on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines-Manila has also announced the suspension of its classes on January 9.
