No classes in Manila on January 9

MANILA, Philippines鈥擬anila Mayor Joseph Estrada has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in the city on January 9,聽 the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

In an order dated January 3, Estrada said that 鈥渕illions of people are expected to join the celebration鈥� and聽 because of concerns about 鈥減ublic safety and order鈥� classes will be suspended on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines-Manila has also announced the suspension of its classes on January 9.
