MMDA warns of heavy traffic along Edsa this weekend

MANILA, Philippines—Anticipate heavier and more hellish traffic jams along Edsa as the Department of Public‎ Works and Highways resumes its road reblocking and repairs over the weekend.

The Metro Manila Development Authority, in an advisory Thursday, advised motorists to take alternate routes in some areas starting Friday  until Monday.

It said the DPWH will start the repair late Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.

The said areas that will undergo repair are the following:

  • Along EDSA between Boni Avenue and Guadalupe Bridge (Southbound), Mandaluyong City.
  • Along EDSA between Guadalupe Bridge and South Drive (Southbound, 5th Lane), Makati City
  • Along EDSA between Don Ang Street and Gen. Tinio Street, (Northbound, Lane 5), Caloocan City.

But the MMDA assured that as soon as the repairs finish Monday morning, all roads will be fully passable.

In previous reports, the MMDA told the public to expect frequent traffic congestion due to some infrastructure projects, including the construction of Skyway Stage 3, to be done within the next two years.
