MANILA, Philippines—Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Thursday dismissed as unimportant the petition being readied by a group of whistleblower calling for her resignation.

“Why will I focus on them? I have more important things to do. There are other priority things that I am doing about PDAF, about Napoles—these are just some of the important things I am doing,” De Lima told reporters making it clear she will not resign.

Sandra Cam, head of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines, said in a media forum that De Lima lost her credibility, thus she must resign.

Cam alleged that that Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation received P150 million in bribes from Napoles in exchange for the dropping of the serious illegal detention complaint filed against her by whistle blower Benhur Luy.

“I am wondering what is their problem? Why are they doing that? Are they trying to dampen my spirit and my will? I don’t think they will succeed if that’s their objective,” De Lima said.

“I will not prevent them from doing that. That’s the prerogative of everyone. That’s the prerogative of those who will sign the petition,” she said.

De Lima said she believes that many of the people still believes her and she still enjoys the trust and confidence of the President.
