MANILA, Philippines鈥擳he appointment of Social Welfare Secretary Corazon听Soliman听was recommended on Wednesday for confirmation by a panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
No member of the CA鈥檚 committees on labor, employment and social welfare听 objected when a member moved to recommend听Soliman鈥檚听confirmation听for plenary approval.
ABONO听Partylist听Representative听Conrado听Estrella, chairman of the House of Representatives鈥� contingent to听the CA, said听Soliman鈥檚听confirmation would be tackled in the plenary听next week.
Senator Miriam听Defensor-Santiago, who听wrote听Estrella about her plan to block听Soliman鈥檚听confirmation by invoking Section 20 of the听CA鈥檚 rules, was听absent during the hearing.
Estrella said Santiago听must have to be present when she invokes this rule听in the plenary next week.
