Over 1500 passengers stranded in Southern Tagalog ports due to ‘Glenda’

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines–Thousands of passengers were stranded in various ports in the Southern Tagalog regions after trips and port operations were suspended due to Typhoon“Glenda”(international name:Rammasun).

As of early Tuesday, the combined number of stranded passengers at theBatangasCity port and theDalahicanport in Quezon has reached 1,496, according to VicenteTomazar, director of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRMC) in Cavite, Laguna,Batangas, Rizal, Quezon.

He also said a total of 129 rolling cargoes and 16 sea vessels were not allowed to sail.

In the Mindoro,Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) region, 375 passengers were stranded at theCalapanandDangayports in Oriental Mindoro,AbradeIlogport in Occidental Mindoro, andPoctoyport inOdiongan, Romblon.

Heavy rains were also reported between 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. in the towns ofMogpog,Gasan, Sta. Cruz andBoacinMarinduqueand in Ferrol andLoocin Romblon, although there were no reports of flooding yet in these areas, according to the 5 a.m. report from theMimaropa.
