MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon “Glenda” (international name:Rammasun) has sped up its pace as it moves closer to make landfall in theAlbay-Sorsogonarea, the weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Glenda” is at 80 kilometers east northeast ofCatarman, Northern Samar or 160 km east southeast ofLegazpiCity.
“Glenda” has maintained its strength of maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of 150kphwhile moving at a pace of 24kphtoward the west.
Catanduanes,Albay,Sorsogon,CamarinesSur,CamarinesNorte, Masbate includingBuriasandTicaoIslands, Southern Quezon,Marinduque, Northern Samar and the northern part of Samar and Eastern Samar are placed under public storm warning signal no.3.
Other parts of Quezon, includingPolilloIslands,Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal,Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Metro Manila,Biliran, rest of Samar and Eastern Samar, and northern part of Leyte province are under public storm warning signal no. 2.
While Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro,LubangIsland,Zambales,Tarlac, NuevaEcija,Pangasinan,Quirino, NuevaVizcaya,Benguet, La Union, Aurora, Southern part of Leyte province andCamotesIslands are under public storm warning signal no. 1.
Pagasaestimated that rainfall amount would range from 7.5 to 20 millimeters per hour, moderate to intense, within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon.
