MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Typhoon 鈥淕lenda鈥� (international name:听Rammasun) has sped up its pace as it moves closer to make landfall in the听Albay-Sorsogon听area, the weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said 鈥淕lenda鈥� is at 80 kilometers east northeast of听Catarman, Northern Samar or 160 km east southeast of听Legazpi听City.
鈥淕lenda鈥� has maintained its strength of maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of 150听kph听while moving at a pace of 24听kph听toward the west.
Catanduanes,听Albay,听Sorsogon,听Camarines听Sur,听Camarines听Norte, Masbate including听Burias听and听Ticao听Islands, Southern Quezon,听Marinduque, Northern Samar and the northern part of Samar and Eastern Samar are placed under public storm warning signal no.3.
Other parts of Quezon, including听Polillo听Islands,听Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal,听Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Metro Manila,听Biliran, rest of Samar and Eastern Samar, and northern part of Leyte province are under public storm warning signal no. 2.
While Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro,听Lubang听Island,听Zambales,听Tarlac, Nueva听Ecija,听Pangasinan,听Quirino, Nueva听Vizcaya,听Benguet, La Union, Aurora, Southern part of Leyte province and听Camotes听Islands are under public storm warning signal no. 1.
Pagasa听estimated that rainfall amount would range from 7.5 to 20 millimeters per hour, moderate to intense, within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon.
