MANILA, Philippines 鈥撎鼸ven senators听were not spared by the wrath听of Typhoon 鈥淕lenda鈥� (international name:听Rammasun) as some of them were hit听 by听 brownouts听 Wednesday.
Senators听Serge听Osme帽a, Loren听Legarda听and Grace听Poe were among听the听millions of Filipinos听who experienced power outages at the听height of the听typhoon.
Osme帽a听said they had听no electricity听and听cable听signals Wednesday though听power was restored in the evening.
鈥淲e still have no TV today,鈥� he said in a text message on Thursday.
Since听he could not still watch television,听Osme帽a听said he听just spent his time doing what he likes most: reading.
鈥淚 like to read 鈥� news, business journals, non-fiction, classics, thrillers,鈥澨齢e said.
While听they also听had no electricity during the typhoon,听Legarda听said this did not bother her since she said she does not use air-con anyway.
鈥淏rownout so ok听lang听because听I never watch TV and I do not use air-con so听sanay听ako听na听no power (It was brownout, but it was ok because I never watch TV and I do not use air-con so I am used to having no power),鈥澨齭he said in a separate text message.
鈥淚 just听worked on my papers and monitored听my staff听via cellphone. I monitored news via radio. Today, I鈥檓 cleaning up all fallen trees and branches as chief gardener. I am听also planning feeding missions for affected communities in听NCR and听Regions 3 and 4a,鈥� she said.
Legarda听said they were also cleaning up canals and听recycling听fallen trees.
Poe, in another text message, said听they also experienced听brownouts听from 6 a.m.听until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
