Carabao kills farmer

CEBU CITY鈥擜 farmer was killed on Saturday when his angry carabao rammed him with its horn and tossed him up several times in his farm in Barangay (village) San Roque, Talisay City, Cebu province.

The body of Jerwil Abasolo, 45, was almost cut in half by the time the carabao let him go, the police said.

But the policemen had to shoot the carabao鈥檚 two front knees after they saw the animal poised to attack them, too. Abasolo鈥檚 family later sold the carabao for P25,000 to a meat dealer.

Junior Sasis said he and Abasolo were preparing their farms for planting when the carabao suddenly kicked Abasolo.聽 The animal then rammed his owner and tossed him in the air several times.

鈥淭he carabao went wild. It didn鈥檛 stop attacking Jerwin and tossing him,鈥 he said. The attack lasted for about five minutes,聽 Sasis said.

Sasis said the carabao then licked the blood on the ground. When the policemen arrived, he said the carabao looked mad and appeared ready to attack. The policemen decided to shoot its two front knees.

Rodulfo Abasolo said his brother bought the carabao two years ago when it was 3 years old. But the victim failed to tame the carabao as it would go wild and try to attack his brother,聽 Rodulfo said.

His friends and relatives advised Abasolo to sell the carabao because the animal might harm him but the victim would just tell them that he would do so only after he was finished tilling the farm.
