Mayor Binay appears before Senate probe on Makati carpark building

MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Makati Mayor Jejomar听Erwin 鈥淛un-Jun鈥澨鼴inay showed up at the Senate on Wednesday to attend its investigation into the alleged overpriced Makati听City Hall听II parking building听in Makati City.

Binay arrived a little past 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. hearing of the blue ribbon committee.

Binay鈥檚 father and namesake, Vice President Jejomar Binay, will not attend the hearing since he has not yet been invited by the committee, said the mayor鈥檚 spokesman Joey Salgado.

Father and son听were both听charged with plunder and听graft at the Office of the Ombudsman over the听alleged听overpriced听carpark听building built听when the Vice President was still the mayor of Makati.

The听Binays听have repeatedly denied听the allegations.
