Mayor Binay appears before Senate probe on Makati carpark building

MANILA, Philippines – Makati Mayor JejomarErwin “Jun-Jun”Binay showed up at the Senate on Wednesday to attend its investigation into the alleged overpriced MakatiCity HallII parking buildingin Makati City.

Binay arrived a little past 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. hearing of the blue ribbon committee.

Binay’s father and namesake, Vice President Jejomar Binay, will not attend the hearing since he has not yet been invited by the committee, said the mayor’s spokesman Joey Salgado.

Father and sonwere bothcharged with plunder andgraft at the Office of the Ombudsman over theallegedoverpricedcarparkbuilding builtwhen the Vice President was still the mayor of Makati.

TheBinayshave repeatedly deniedthe allegations.
