MANILA, Philippines鈥擜fter news of Nur Misuari resurfacing in Sulu last August 12, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said they are still validating the report if it was the fugitive Muslim leader who was seen in the autonomous island province.

Misuari was spotted during the celebration of the 1st anniversary of the Bangsamoro Republik in Sulu.

鈥淭he AFP is still validating reports of Nur Misuari鈥檚 reappearance in Sulu,鈥 Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala, AFP Public Affairs Office Chief, said Wednesday.

A report from the Moro National Liberation Front website showed Misuari in full battle gear and urging his supporters to pursue their right to self-determination.

He added that Misuari is still subject to law enforcement as the fugitive has been charged for his involvement in the Zamboanga City siege in September 2013.

鈥淢isuari should take the responsibility by submitting himself to the rule of law and face the consequences of his group鈥檚 actions in Zamboanga City that afflicted suffering to the people of Zamboanga,鈥 Zagala said.
