MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Senate on Monday听began its听inquiry into the current state of the country鈥檚听public and听mass transport system following an accident met by a Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) train in August that injured at least听38 people.
Several听senators听like Sonny Angara, Nancy听Binay,听Bam Aquino and听Aqulino听Pimentel III initiated the investigation at the Senate听after听the MRT-3 overshot听the tracks听at the Taft Avenue station at the corner of听Edsa听and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
Senator听Grace Poe,听who presides听over the hearing, rode听the MRT-3 last Friday without media fanfare to听prepare for Monday鈥檚 hearing by the Senate听committee on public services.
