MAGPET, North Cotabato, Philippines鈥擳hree policemen assigned with the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office were injured when communist rebels set off an improvised explosive device (IED) here around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
In a report, Capt. Manuel Gatus, spokesperson of the Philippine Army鈥檚 57th Infantry Battalion, said the policemen were responding to a reported harassment by New People鈥檚 Army rebels in Barangay Bagumbayan when the bomb exploded.
鈥淭here were two IEDs that exploded, which resulted in the slight wounding of the PNP members,鈥� Gatus said by phone.
The wounded policemen were rushed to a hospital and were already declared safe and in stable condition, he added.
