MANILA, Philippines鈥揝ome Catholic prelates appear to be divided over President Aquino having the authority to establish additional power-generating capacity.
Bishops Jose Oliveros of Malolos, Bulacan, and Dinualdo Gutierrez of Marbel, Cotabato, said that President Aquino should not be given emergency powers. 鈥淒efinitely not. If P-Noy cannot avert the ordinary power crisis with his ordinary powers, then he has himself to blame. He is not a good administrator at all. Besides, emergency powers can lead to abuse,鈥� said Oliveros.
On the other hand, Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes said Aquino needs support in order to address the country鈥檚 depleted power supply.鈥�Tina G. Santos
