MANILA, Philippines — About 90 families were displaced in a fire that razed a shanty community in Quezon City Tuesday morning.
Superintendent Jesus Fernandez, Quezon City Fire marshal, said in a phone interview with ºÚÁÏÉç that some 30 houses were gutted in Sitio ‎Ruby in Barangay (village) North Fairview around 8 a.m.
Fernandez ‎said the fire broke out in a home after one of its family members cooked in wood fire.
The fire easily spread through nearby houses, which were made of light materials. ‎It reached fourth alarm.
The affected families have been evacuated to the barangay hall for temporary shelter.
