Queenie, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, was last observed 120 kilometers northwest of Dumaguete City, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
It was moving west at 24 kph. ĨSignal No. 1. was hoisted in Palawan including the Calamian Group of Islands and Cuyo Islands, Bohol, Southern Cebu, Negros Oriental, Southern Negros Occidental, Siquijor Guimaras Island, Iloilo and Antique, Zamboanga del Norte.
Queenie is expected to traverse Sulu Sea and mainland Palawan on Thursday evening. By Friday evening, it is supposed to exit the Philippine area of responsibility. ĨSea travel of small seacraft and fishing boats are risky, Pagasa said.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected from Queenie.
