Today, Jan. 29, is the 35th death anniversary of National Artist Antonio Molina. Born on Dec. 26, 1894, in Quiapo, Manila, Molina was known as a versatile musician, composer and music educator. His most familiar composition is “Hatinggabi,” a serenade for solo violin and piano accompaniment. In 1973, he was the first musician to be conferred the national artist award.
