SSS to suspend monthly pension of those who don鈥檛 undergo confirmation

MANILA, Philippines鈥擲tate-run pension fund Social Security System (SSS) has reminded its pensioners to undergo their annual confirmation, as failure to do so could result in suspension of their monthly pension.

In an advisory over the weekend, SSS said the once-a-year annual confirmation of pensioners (Acop) must be undertaken by old-age members during their birth month so that they would continuously receive their pension.

鈥淧ensioners need to submit the accomplished Acop form to the nearest SSS office or their pension-depository bank to avoid suspension of their monthly pension,鈥 it said.

For pensioners who can no longer walk due to illness, SSS shall schedule a home visit upon request.

SSS warned that starting March, it would suspend the pensions of those did not undergo the Acop.

In a separate statement, SSS reported that it signed聽last November a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the municipal government of Taytay in Palawan province to cover the latter鈥檚 over 300 employees.

Under the MOA, Taytay鈥檚 mostly job order as well as contractual workers shall be able to avail of financial assistance from SSS during contingencies such as sickness, disability, maternity, retirement or death, as self-employed members.

SSS said Taytay was the first local government unit in Palawan with whom it had forged a partnership in compliance with the Department of the Interior and Local Government鈥檚 Memorandum Circular No. 2014-83, which ordered local executives to enjoin contractual and job order employees to register under the pension fund鈥檚 expanded self-employed coverage聽program.
