Vicki Belo donates P1M to kin of 44 SAF men
CELEBRITY surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo donated on Thursday P1 million to the families and beneficiaries of the 44 members of the Special Action Force who were killed in an encounter with Moro rebels in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25.
Philippine National Police officer in charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina himself accepted the P1 million check from Belo, who was accompanied by her ex-husband Atom Henares.
A photo released by the PNP Public Information Office showed Belo handing over the check to Espina and Chief Superintendent Nestor Quinsay Jr., director of the police community relations group, at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.
Forty-four SAF commandos, 17 Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters and three civilians died in a clash that ensued when the police neutralized international terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir or “Marwan.”
