‘Dodong’ slows down; Signal No. 1 up in 7 areas

Typhoon “Dodong” (international name: Noul) slowed down early Friday as it continued to move west northwest, the state weather bureau said.

Dodong was moving at 17 kilometers per hour (kph) west northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said at 5 a.m.

Signal No. 1 was raised in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Polilo Island and Northern Samar.

The typhoon was last observed 595 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph.

Storm signals may also be raised in Quezon, Aurora and Isabela at 11 a.m., Pagasa said.

Heavy to intense rains are forecast within the 300 kilometer diameter of the typhoon. IDL
