The government has posted online 3,320 job vacancies in five agencies in an effort to draw young graduates to careers in public service.
The jobs up for grabs at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) can be accessed at the job-matching website kalibrr.com, the DOF said in a statement yesterday.
The five agencies have partnered with Bagumbayani Initiative, a program spearheaded by Young Public Servants (YPS), in a bid to 鈥渞adically open up and widen the reach of government recruitment and to invite more young Filipinos to join the civil service,鈥� according to the DOF.
On its website, YPS said the group is composed of 鈥測oung dynamic individuals focused on promoting good governance and democratic citizenship among the youth.鈥�
According to the DOF, the Bagumbayani Initiative was 鈥渟tarted with a group of friends who come from different government agencies, and who decided to meet every Wednesday to talk about their experiences and stories in the civil service.鈥�
Following a soft launch last month, the BIR has already received 154 applications; 152 applications, DBM; 244, DOF; 59, DOT; and 18, DOTC.

The entry-level positions available per agency number are: BIR, 3,211; DBM, 31; DOF, 41; DOT, four; and DOTC, 33.
Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares said the vacancies posted by the BIR represents approximately one fifth of the bureau鈥檚 workforce.
Young and talented Filipinos are needed to fill these vacancies 鈥渢o ensure the sustainability of President Aquino鈥檚 good governance initiatives,鈥� said Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima.

鈥淲e encourage the youth to come aboard 鈥榙aang matuwid鈥� (straight path) and help us prove that even transportation can be more fun in the Philippines,鈥� said Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio T. Abaya.
