The Senate blue ribbon committee has yet to act on a request of whistle-blower Rhodora Alvarez to place her under the government鈥檚 Witness Protection Program.
She feels her life is in danger.
Alvarez has exposed what she claimed was corruption that attended the P1.26-billion helicopter deal of the Department of National Defense which she describes as 鈥渞otten.鈥�
The deal involves buying helicopter scraps from Germany, shipping them to the United States to be reconstructed and refurbished, and then sending them to Manila to be used by the Philippine Air Force.
It was supposed to cover 21 鈥渟tate-of-the-art鈥� combat choppers, but out of seven units that have arrived in the country, only one is flying.
Alvarez has linked Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Undersecretary Fernando Manalo and other defense and military officials to the allegedly graft-ridden transaction.

According to Manila鈥檚 rumor mill, Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison is about to be replaced because he has been linked to corrupt practices in the bureau.
