The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday announced that it has intercepted P52.5 million worth of imported “ukay-ukay” or used clothing at the Port of Cagayan de Oro early this month.

Alvin Enciso, BOC Cagayan de Oro-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CDO-CIIS) chief, said his team stopped the release of 21 units of 40-footer container vans filled with assorted articles such as bed covers, bed sheets, pillow case, blankets, bags, shoes and prohibited used clothing.

The shipment was intercepted at the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, a subport of the CDO Port, between July 4 and July 11.

The shipment from Malaysia and Korea were all consigned to Greener Pasture Marketing. The customs broker was Abel Avergonzado of Purok Talisayan, San Nicholas, Buhangin, Davao City.
