IS the Liberal Party (LP) of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas in 2016 behind the disqualification case against Senator Grace Poe?
Poe herself raised this matter when she met with Roxas Sunday night , where she was formally offered to be his running mate聽in 2016.
鈥淢araming tsismis kung sino ang nasa likod niya鈥ero hindi nga ako nagba-black propaganda tulad ng iba鈥ahil para sa akin sino ba ang mabebenipisyuhan 鈥檖ag ako natanggal dito? Pero mas lalo nilang ginagawa 鈥檡an, 鈥檖ag umatras ang isang tao e di sasabihin nila duwag kaya nga ayaw kong atrasan ito,鈥� she told reporters when asked if she had any information as to who could be handling the losing senatorial bet Rizalito David.
(There are many rumors as to who was behind him鈥� Unlike others though, I don鈥檛 use black propaganda because for me, who will benefit from it if I would be removed here? But they are bent on doing it, and if you back out they鈥檇 say you鈥檙e a coward, that鈥檚 why I鈥檓 not backing out.)
It was David who filed two separate cases against Poe at the Senate Electoral Tribunal and the Commission on Elections over her being a foundling or stateless.
Asked if she raised the matter to Roxas since there were talk that the LP was behind David, Poe answered yes.
鈥淪inabi ko sa kanya, alam n鈥檡o Secretary 鈥檖ag nag-uusap tayo diretsahan tayo 鈥檖ag nag-uusap pero may mga tao kayo na talagang titnitira ako sa likod. Alam ko yun 鈥檖agkat nakakarating sa amin鈥︹��
(I told him, you know Secretary, we鈥檙e frank with each other when we talk but you have people who really attack me behind my back. I know because that鈥檚 the information we get.)
鈥淗anda naman kami sa legalidad dito pero hangga鈥檛 sinusuyo ako pero kabaligtaran naman ang ginagawa ng iba, ano ba naman yun?鈥�
(We are ready with the legality but while you are courting me, the others are doing the opposite of it.)
But Poe said Roxas denied that the LP was behind David.
鈥淎ng sabi nya ang pagkakaalam nya hindi galing sa kampo nya pero di ba may mga sinasabi na mapakla daw ako dahil hindi pa nga ako hinog, galing naman yan sa kampo nila. Kasi ang manibalang may halong tamis at asim,鈥� she said.
And did she get any commitment from Roxas that he would stop his men from attacking her? Poe said: 鈥淲ell sabi nya, hindi nga raw n鈥檡a papayagan ang ganun kasi 鈥檡un nga ang kabilin bilinan ng Pangulo na kami magkasama dito sa layunin para sa ating mga kababayan na huwag magsiraan, itaas ang level ng diskurso.鈥�
(Well, he said he won鈥檛 allow that to happen because the President鈥檚 reminder to us is that we should be working together for the good of our countrymen; that we should not throw accusations at each other, and to raise the level of discourse.)
