Uber, GrabCar, other TNCs welcome to operate at Naia

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is open to allowing transport network companies (TNCs), including Uber and GrabCar, to operate in the country鈥檚 premier airport as long as they seek accreditation.

According to MIAA, all public utility vehicles at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) underwent accreditation before they were allowed to operate.

It added that TNCs which wish to be authorized to operate must submit the following: a letter of intent for airport accreditation addressed to MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado; a vehicle鈥檚 certificate of registration; the official receipt of registration; a certificate of accreditation from the Department of Tourism (DOT); a list of DOT-accredited vehicles; and a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board franchise.

Other requirements are a duly notarized written authority from the company鈥檚 representative; a duly notarized certificate of authentication of the documents submitted; a Department of Trade and Industry business registration or Securities and Exchange Commission registration and by-laws; a mayor鈥檚 permit; a copy of the latest income and business tax return聽 stamped and received by the Bureau of Internal Revenue; and a tax clearance certificate to prove tax payment.

According to the MIAA, the written authority of the TNC鈥檚 representative should indicate the authority of the agent to act on the company鈥檚 behalf. In case of single proprietorship, there must be a special power of attorney from the owner.
