Another thunderstorm may hit Metro Manila during rush hour

THE state weather bureau warned of possible thunderstorms in Metro Manila on Wednesday afternoon or evening.

Benison Estareja, weather specialist from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said by phone that the thunderstorm may occur in Metro Manila at around 5 p.m.

“It is currently affecting Tarlac area,” he said.

Estareja could not say however if it will be as strong as Tuesday’s thunderstorm.

On Tuesday evening, thunderstorms in Metro Manila caused monstrous traffic. Many were stuck in traffic amid strong thunderstorms during a rush hour that caused flash floods.

A thunderstorm advisory was issued at 3:07 p.m. on Wednesday in parts of Pampanga, Tarlac, Batangas, Laguna and Quezon.

Thunderstorm is affecting Pampanga (Porac, Arayat), Tarlac (Gerona, San Clemente, Camiling), Batangas (Nasugbu), portions of Laguna and Quezon which may persist within two hours, Pagasa said.

Bataan, areas of Pampanga, Tarlac and Batangas may experience more thunderstorms in the next two hours. Frances Mangosing/AC
