Before Grace Poe鈥檚 announcement, allies gather to show support

Supporters of Senator聽Grace聽Poe聽gathered at the Bahay ng Alumni in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City聽on Wednesday for her expected announcement聽of her presidential bid in 2016.

鈥淕race Poe 2016,鈥 Sama-sama Poe,鈥 Tuloy na Poe, 鈥淓to na Poe, 鈥淢aasahan Poe, 鈥淢atapang Poe,鈥 Tapat na Poe,鈥 and 鈥淎ll4GP鈥 were聽among the posters and聽tarpaulins plastered in almost every corners of the聽venue.

Early birds at the聽gathering were members of the Filipinos for Peace, Justice and Progress Movement (FPJPM), who were wearing white shirts聽bearing the name of their group and the picture of聽Poe鈥檚 late father, actor Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), and聽members of the聽Great People鈥檚 Movement for聽Progress (GPPM).

Also聽present were members of the groups called GP Movement, Go Grace Poe, and Bicol Youth for Grace.

Former聽Para帽aque Representative Roilo聽Golez and former An Waray Partylist Representative Bem Noel聽were also among the first politicians present hours before the聽program starts at 4pm.

Jun Zafra, 60, chairman of FPJPM-Taguig chapter, said聽they supported FPJ聽when he ran but lost to detained former President聽and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and they also supported Grace Poe when she first聽ran and topped the聽senatorial race in 2013.

Another chairman of FPJPM in the Bulacan chapter,聽Arthur dela聽Cruz, said that they also renewed their support for Poe, whom they campaigned for during the last elections.

But聽Dela Cruz said their聽support for the senator was not only because she is the daughter of FPJ.

鈥淗indi lang po dahil anak siya ng yumaong聽FPJ,鈥 he said, adding that they were hoping that Poe could help uplift the聽lives of many聽poor Filipinos. JE
