Marikina River reaches Alert Level 2 due to "Lando"

Alert Level 2 was hoisted over Marikina River Sunday afternoon amid heavy rains brought by typhoon “Lando” (international name: Koppu).

According to an advisory from Marikina City Public Information Officer Paul Edward Sison, the water level has reached 16 meters as of 4:30 p.m.

Marikina LGU said that it expects water level to subside within the next two hours as water level in the Montalban River has already subsided.

Marikina City has already suspended classes in all levels for Monday, October 19.

According to the 5 p.m. weather bulletin of state weather bureau Pagasa, Lando packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 185 kph. It is moving west northwest at 5 kph.

As of 4 p.m., Lando is located in the vicinity of Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.

It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.

Public storm warning signal 3 is hoisted over Nueva Ecija, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales.

Signal no. 2 is still up in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, Rizal, Northern Quezon including Polilio Islands, Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Aurora, Abra, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.

Meanwhile, signal no. 1 is raised over Batanes, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and rest of Quezon.
