65 more international, local PAL flights cancelled due to ‘operational problems’

MANILA, Philippines—Sixty-five more international and local flights of the Philippine Airlines have been cancelled as of 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to an advisory from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

The MIAA’s media affairs office said on Sunday the cancellation of the PAL flights were due to the firm’s operational problems.

Joey de Guzman, PAL vice president for corporate communications, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer “at least 60 percent of our domestic flights and 95 percent of our international flights are operating normally.”

Ten international flights were cancelled: PR 732, Manila-Bangkok and PR 733, Bangkok-Manila; PR 318, Manila-Hong Kong and PR 319, Hong Kong-Manila; PR 501, Manila-Singapore and PR 512, Singapore-Manila; PR 312, Manila-Hong Kong and PR 313, Hong Kong Manila; PR 758, Manila-New Delhi; and PR 110, Manila-Guam.

Fifty-five domestic flights to and from the following PAL destinations were also cancelled: Davao City, Bacolod City, Zamboanga City, Iloilo City, Roxas City, Tacloban City, Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City, Kalibo, Legazpi City, General Santos City, Tagbilaran City, and Dumaguete City.

No information has been provided yet on the rescheduling of the cancelled flights.

Instead of the NAIA Terminal 2, 22 local flights of PAL were serviced at the nearby NAIA Terminal 3.

Meanwhile, four Cebu Pacific domestic flights and two local flights of Air Philippines, PAL’s sister company, were also cancelled due to “bad weather,” said the MIAA.

The canceled Cebu Pacific flights were 5J 196, Manila-Cauayan, Isabela, and 5J 197, its return flight; and 5J 504, Manila-Tuguegarao, and 5J 505, its return flight.

Also canceled were Air Philippines flights 2P 014, Manila-Tuguegarao and 2P 015, its return flight.
