ON OCT. 23, 2009, Republic Act No. 9729, or the Climate Change Act of 2009, was approved and the Climate Change Commission was established. The commission, an independent and autonomous body that has the same status as that of a national government agency, is in charge of coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating programs of the government related to climate change. It is under the Office of the President, with the Chief Executive serving as chair and appointing three commissioners. The commission’s office is located at Malacañang’ Mabini Hall.
