MEXICO CITY — Prosecutors are warning inhabitants of Mexico’s southern Pacific coast just west of the resort of Acapulco to take precautions after a tiger escaped and apparently killed five cows.

The prosecutors’ office of southern Guerrero state said the tiger escaped from a restaurant in the township of Coyuca de Benitez, where the animal was apparently kept on display.

The office said Wednesday the tiger escaped Monday from the “Mangrove Paradise” restaurant; by Thursday, the tiger still had not been caught.
