Tropical depression Ramon maintains strength–Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines—Signal number one was raised over several provinces even as tropical depression “Ramon” has maintained its strength the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa said that Ramon has maintained maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and was forecast to move westward at 15 kilometers per hour.
Storm signal warning has been raised over Surigao del Norte, Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Group of Islands.
Residents in areas under signal number 1 are alerted for possible flash floods and landslides, the state-run weather bureau said,
It added that Ramon has an estimated 5 to 20 mm per hour amount of rainfall within its 300 kilometer diameter.
By Tuesday afternoon, Ramon was forecast to be 260 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and by Wednesday afternoon, it was expected to be 90 km east of Surigao City. By Thursday afternoon, Ramon was forecast to be in the vicinity of Bantayan Island or 100 km north of Cebu City.
