MANILA, Philippines — A kidnapped businesswoman and her driver were released in Iligan City before dawn Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.

Trader Faridah Adilao and her driver Mokamad Mimbantas were released by their captors in Barangay (village) Fuentes in Iligan City at around 1:30 a.m., said Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.

The kidnap victims were taken to the Mercy Hospital along Quezon Avenue Extension in Iligan City and will be debriefed afterwards, said Cruz.

Adilao and Mimbantas were abducted by armed men in Lanao del Sur earlier this month, police said.
