Cops probe deeper into murders of 2 ice cream vendors in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY — Police investigators are digging into the possible motive in the killing of two ice cream vendors in the boundary of Barangays Ungka, Sambag and Tabuk Suba in Jaro District in Iloilo City.

RJ Alonia, 30, and Andrew Igpaz, 23, both of Pavia town bore hack wounds in their necks and shoulders.

Their bodies were discovered by a boy who passed by a creek 11:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Chief Insp. Hilario Roga, chief of Scene of the Crime Operatives of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, said the hack wounds were all fatal and that they caused the deaths.

“But we will subject the bodies of the victims to autopsy to determine the cause of their death,” Roga said in dialect.

Chief Insp. Hilbert Ballego, Jaro District police commander, said the victims might have been killed somewhere else and were just dumped in the area.

“We are in pursuit of more than one suspect here,” Balllego said.

Michelle Fajardo, common law wife of Alonia, reported him missing at the Jaro police station when he failed to come home after selling ice cream.

The two victims were last seen on Saturday morning peddling their products in different areas in Iloilo City.  SFM
