NEW YORK, United States鈥擭ew York鈥檚 World Trade Center will be lit black, yellow and red in solidarity with Belgium on Tuesday after 35 people were killed in bombings in Brussels.

The colors of the Belgian flag will light up the 408-foot (124-meter) antenna in an expression of support from the tallest building in the United States, which was built on the site of the 9/11 attacks on New York.
The spire is so tall it can be seen across much of America鈥檚 largest city and across the Hudson River in New Jersey.
鈥淭onight, One World Trade Center will be displayed in black, yellow and red as we stand in solemn solidarity with the people of Belgium, just as they have done for us in the past,鈥� said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
鈥淣ew York stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Belgium and the rest of the world in rejecting the hate and extremism behind this violence,鈥� he said.
New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C ramped up security on Tuesday in the wake of the deadly attacks. Police armed with machine guns patrolled New York鈥檚 Times Square and National Guard troops deployed to airports.
